What to Know Before Making a HVLS Fan Purchase

Do you manage or work in a facility that’s difficult to cool in the summer heat in the winter? Are you looking for an easier, more cost-effective way to maintain the climate of your employees’ work environment? HVLS fans are here to help! We’ve got you covered with all the things you’ll want to consider before making the smart move of installing a HVLS fan in your facility. Building

  • What are your building dimensions? This will help determine which fan model, what fan size, and how many fans will be best suited for your space.
  • Do you have technical drawings of your facility? AutoCAD files are best for sizing up your building and understanding the logistics associated with HVLS fan installation.
  • Are there ceiling obstructions? HVLS fans hang from the ceiling, and safety requirements recommend there is at least two feet between the fan blade and any other object. What kind of voltage does your building have? Determining your voltage is key to making the right purchase. Knowing your voltage is important to help figure out which fan motor will work with the electrical requirements of your facility. All fan orders are custom made per facility electrical specifications. Viewing the breaker box is one way to determine your facility’s required voltage.

Budget

  • Determine your fan budget. On average, purchasing an HVLS fan can cost between $3,000 and $6,000. Dependent on application, a single HVLS fan can offset energy costs by as much as 30% in the winter by distributing the heat lost through the ceilings.
    • The XP is Hunter Industrial’s newest addition. This silent featherweight boasts variable speed control to provide fully adjustable airflow for maximum performance and efficiency, all at an unrivaled value. The XP starts at $2,800.
    • Hunter Industrial’s middle tier juggernaut, the ECO, is the lightest weight and most economical HVLS fan on the market. The ECO starts at $3,570.
    • The Titan is Hunter Industrial’s premier HVLS fan containing the most efficient technology in the ceiling fan industry. The Titan starts at $4,840.
  • Make sure to budget for downrods. Downrods run the length from the body of the fan to the ceiling mount allowing you to determine how low the fan hangs. Depending on your ceiling height, you will need a downrod that complies with safety guidelines and fits your facility. Downrod lengths range from two feet to ten feet. With each fan purchased, the price on each downrod is reduced.
  • What type of control do you need? Depending on the type of wall control you are looking for, we offer several options. We offer a base 1:1 analog control compatible with all our fans and then a premium touchscreen control for use with the ECO and Titan fans. The 1:1 analog control is our base control option; this network control operates up to five fans and is included with the price of the fan. Our premium touchscreen control starts at $350 and operates between 10 to 30 fans.
  • Determine the shipping cost. Here at Hunter Industrial, we offer free shipping is included with the purchase of any of our HVLS fans.

Your Needs

One HVLS fan can provide similar air movement to twelve 48” barrel fans at one-twelfth the operation costs. For this reason, it’s important to determine exactly how much air movement your facility needs to select the most efficient purchase option.
