Is your Warehouse a Sauna? | Heat Ventilation- Bedson REPS

As summer 2014 takes shape, many factories are experiencing unwavering heat during work hours, putting the lives of their employees at risk in overheated buildings. Temperatures can rise well above 100 degrees, making it impossible for productive work and puts the entire team at risk of encountering a form of heat stress.

According to the CDC:

"Workers who are exposed to extreme heat or work in hot environments may be at risk of heat stress. Exposure to extreme heat can result in occupational illnesses and injuries. Heat stress can result in heat stroke, heat exhaustion, heat cramps, or heat rashes. Heat can also increase the risk of injuries in workers as it may result in sweaty palms, fogged-up safety glasses, and dizziness. Burns may also occur as a result of accidental contact with hot surfaces or steam."

Keeping your factory or warehouse in working order throughout the summer means making sure employees stay hydrated, cool and safe and that buildings maintain ventilation so they don't reach high temperatures. a variety of products can help achieve this, but how do you know what is right for you?

Which Type of Fan is Right for Me?

Industrial Fans: Heavy duty fans, including exhaust fans, wall fans, power roof ventilators and process air blowers can be used for general plant ventilation, clearing of smoke and fumes in addition to cooling employees. They are designed to generate a great amount of air movement efficiently and dependably. They are perfect in commercial applications and are available in several sizes. There are several specifications that can be met by this type of ventilation, including for metal building, manufacturers, wastetreatment plants and more.

Industrial Centrifugal Fans: The latest development in the fans and blowers industry, these fans are highly efficient, and offer a superior performance. They are typically smaller in size, requiring minimum space. Often used in both commercial and industrial applications, they are designed with quality and longlasting performance and have several components to customize their effectiveness.

High Volume Low Speed Industrial Fans: HVLS fans are best used in industrial warehouse and commercial spaces over 10,000sq.ft. The size of these fans make them ultra-efficient and effective. One of the biggest attributes of this fan is the economic impact; a 24’ AirSpan fan can generates ventilation for over 20,000 sq. ft. and run for 8 hours for only $1. One option is even solar powered, using a specialized component that converts power from the solar panels, standard remote control and an optional auxiliary power supply. These fans are useful in replacing several standard ceiling fans, making your plant or warehouse more energy-efficient.
